Turning End-of-Life Vehicle Scrapping into a New Revenue Stream: netZERO’s ELV Carbon Project Milestone
Converting Circular Economy into Climate Action and Additional Revenue
At netZERO Services Private Limited, we are committed to identifying opportunities where environmental action can create measurable climate impact while unlocking new economic value for businesses.
One of our key milestones is the development of an End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) Recycling Carbon Project in India, designed to transform vehicle scrapping and recycling activities into an additional revenue-generating opportunity through carbon credits.
India’s transition towards organised and formal vehicle scrapping is creating a growing ecosystem of Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs), where end-of-life vehicles undergo depollution, dismantling, material recovery and recycling. While these activities already contribute to the circular economy, netZERO identified the potential to go one step further quantifying the associated climate benefits and converting them into a potential additional revenue stream through the carbon market.
From Scrapping Activity to Carbon Asset
netZERO worked on developing a structured carbon-project framework around ELV recycling activities, assessing the baseline and project scenarios, recycling and material-recovery pathways, applicable carbon methodology, monitoring requirements and supporting evidence.
The project brings together two important business opportunities:
Circular Economy + Carbon Finance
By increasing the recovery and recycling of materials from end-of-life vehicles and reducing the requirement for virgin materials, the activity can generate measurable environmental benefits. netZERO’s role is to quantify these impacts, establish robust monitoring and documentation systems, and develop the activity for participation in the carbon market.
A New Revenue Opportunity for ELV Businesses
The key achievement is the creation of a pathway through which existing vehicle scrapping and recycling operations can potentially generate value beyond their conventional business revenues.
Instead of viewing ELV recycling only as a waste-management or material-recovery activity, netZERO has worked towards positioning it as a climate-action project capable of generating carbon assets and creating an additional source of revenue.
This approach can provide ELV operators with an opportunity to:
- Monetise measurable climate benefits from their existing recycling activities;
- Create an additional revenue stream alongside conventional material-recovery revenue;
- Strengthen the environmental value proposition of their operations;
- Improve the systematic monitoring and documentation of recycling activities; and
- Participate in the growing carbon market.
netZERO’s Achievement
The development of the ELV carbon project represents an important milestone in netZERO’s journey of converting real-world environmental activities into measurable and potentially monetizable climate outcomes.
It demonstrates our capability to identify carbon opportunities within existing business operations, assess their carbon potential, develop appropriate monitoring and documentation systems, and create a pathway towards carbon-market participation.
From Vehicle Scrapping to Carbon Value
netZERO is helping transform the ELV recycling business from a conventional material-recovery activity into a potential climate asset—creating environmental impact while unlocking additional economic value.
