Turning Used Oil into a
Circular Resource

Re operates a reverse logistics network that collects, tests, and channels used lubricant oil to Group I re-refiners, turning classified hazardous waste into Re-refined Base Oil.

The Used Oil Opportunity
India Can't Afford to Waste

Recovering the full potential of used oil with advanced recycling. Reducing environmental impact while conserving valuable resources.

India is the world's third-largest lubricants market, yet it imports 60 to 80% of its base oil requirement. Every liter of used lubricant oil drained from a vehicle, machine, or piece of equipment is classified hazardous waste, but it doesn't have to be discarded or incinerated. It can be re-refined into Re-refined Base Oil (RRBO), a direct substitute for virgin base oil in lubricant blends. Despite being one of the largest consumers of lubricants, formal collection and recycling systems in India remain inadequate. The bulk of the used oil is diverted into informal and often environmentally detrimental uses, such as adulterating fuel, furnace oil, etc. This situation emphasizes the urgent need for a structured, sustainable approach to used oil management.

How Used Oil Becomes
Re-Refined Base Oil

Generation - Used Oil Collection
Generation

Used Oil is drained at automobile dealers, garages, factories, fleets, and other generator sites.

Field Testing - Quality Testing
Field Testing

A 4-parameter quality test is run on-site before collection, with results and photo evidence logged digitally.

Grading and Collection
Grading & Collection

Oil is graded (A to D) and picked up through the reverse logistics network.

Aggregation and Consolidation
Aggregation

Collected oil moves through quality-tested aggregation points for consolidation.

Bulk Storage Hubs
Bulk Storage

Aggregated volumes are held at storage hubs ahead of dispatch.

Re-Refining Base Oil
Re-Refining

Quality-assured feedstock is supplied to Group I re-refiners to produce Re-refined Base Oil (RRBO).
