Our Key Carbon Project Milestones
End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) Recycling: netZERO is developing an ELV recycling programme focused on formal vehicle scrapping, dismantling, material recovery and recycling through Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs). The project development includes participating-facility assessment, baseline and project scenario development, material-recovery assessment, methodology applicability, regulatory assessment, monitoring procedures, data management and project documentation. The initiative demonstrates how India’s transition towards a circular economy can contribute to emission reductions by increasing material recovery and reducing dependence on virgin materials.
Electric Vehicle Fleet Transition: netZERO is developing carbon projects for the replacement of fossil-fuel-powered vehicles with electric fleets, including municipal and waste-management applications. The work covers assessment of existing fleets, vehicle specifications, electricity consumption, annual distance travelled, baseline fuel consumption, project emissions, grid emission factors, additionality and monitoring requirements, establishing a robust framework for quantifying emission reductions from clean mobility.
Climate-Smart Rice Cultivation: netZERO is developing an Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) rice project to reduce methane emissions associated with conventional flooded cultivation while improving water-use efficiency. The project involves identification of suitable agricultural areas, farmer and land assessment, baseline cultivation practices, methodology selection, farmer engagement, monitoring framework development, data collection and carbon-potential assessment, with a pathway for scaling from an initial pilot to larger agricultural landscapes.
Mangrove Restoration and Blue Carbon: netZERO is developing a community-oriented mangrove restoration project in West Bengal, focused on restoring degraded coastal areas using native mangrove species. The project integrates baseline and historical land-use assessment, plantation planning, carbon-stock assessment, long-term monitoring, stakeholder engagement, community participation, risk assessment and benefit-sharing. Beyond carbon removal, the project aims to support coastal resilience, biodiversity, ecosystem restoration and local livelihoods.
Agroforestry and Urban Forestry: netZERO is exploring plantation-based carbon projects through agroforestry and urban forestry, integrating suitable tree species into agricultural landscapes and increasing tree cover in urban areas. Project development covers site and land assessment, plantation density and species suitability, carbon-sequestration estimation, stakeholder engagement, survival monitoring and long-term biomass and carbon-stock assessment, with additional benefits including soil improvement, biodiversity and climate resilience.
Resource Recovery: netZERO is also evaluating biomethanisation, waste-to-energy and other resource-recovery opportunities for their potential to generate measurable emission reductions while supporting sustainable waste management.
Building an End-to-End Carbon Project Framework
Across these initiatives, netZERO is establishing a systematic approach covering the complete carbon-project lifecycle—from project identification and technical, regulatory and financial feasibility assessment to methodology selection, baseline development, monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV), stakeholder engagement, carbon documentation and carbon-market readiness. Robust procedures are being developed for the systematic collection, recording, management, verification and storage of project data and evidence.
