Objective

The Instrumentation Senior Engineer is responsible for design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems at sites all over India. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation through proper monitoring and automation of process parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow, and gas composition.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and selection of field instruments such as: Temperature transmitters and thermocouples, Pressure transmitters, Pressure transmitters, Flow meters, Level transmitters, Gas analyzers etc.
  2. Preparation of: Instrument datasheets, Instrument index, Loop diagrams, Hook-up drawings, Cable schedules, I/O list.
  3. Configuration and troubleshooting of PLC / SCADA / DCS systems.
  4. Development and modification of control logic for pyrolysis reactors, condensation, and gas systems.
  5. Integration of field instruments with control panels and HMI.
  6. Troubleshooting communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, RS485, Profibus, Ethernet/IP.
  7. Supervise installation of instruments, control panels, and field wiring.
  8. Perform loop checking, calibration, and functional testing.
  9. Commission automation systems and ensure proper interlocks and safety shutdowns.
  10. Prepare preventive maintenance schedules for instruments.
  11. Diagnose and resolve issues related to process control and instrumentation failures.
  12. Maintain spare parts inventory for critical instruments.
  13. Ensure compliance with hazardous area standards such as ATEX Directive & IECEx System
  14. Ensure proper earthing, intrinsic safety barriers, and flameproof installations.
  15. Support HAZOP, safety audits, and shutdown activities.
  16. Maintain as-built drawings and documentation.
  17. Prepare technical reports, modification proposals, and troubleshooting records.
  18. Coordinate with process, mechanical, and electrical teams.
  19. Strong knowledge of process instrumentation.
  20. Experience with PLC programming and SCADA configuration.
  21. Knowledge of hazardous area instrumentation.
  22. Experience in process industries (oil & gas, petrochemical, pyrolysis, chemical plants).
  23. Troubleshooting of control loops and analyzers.

Qualification and Experience:

  • B.E/ B. Tech in Instrumentation Engineering with experience of 3-6 years.
