Objective

The Instrumentation Senior Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems across project sites throughout India. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations through effective monitoring, control, and automation of critical process parameters, including temperature, pressure, flow, level, and gas composition.

Qualification & Experience

B.E./B.Tech. in Instrumentation Engineering with 3–6 years of relevant professional experience in instrumentation, automation, process control, and industrial plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and select field instrumentation, including temperature transmitters, thermocouples, pressure transmitters, flow meters, level transmitters, gas analyzers, and other process instruments.

  2. Prepare and review instrumentation engineering documents, including instrument datasheets, instrument index, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, cable schedules, and I/O lists.

  3. Configure, program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC, SCADA, DCS, control panels, and HMI systems.

  4. Develop and modify control logic for pyrolysis reactors, condensation systems, gas handling systems, and other process applications.

  5. Integrate field instruments with control panels, PLC/DCS systems, SCADA, and HMI platforms to ensure reliable process monitoring and control.

  6. Troubleshoot industrial communication networks and protocols, including Modbus TCP/IP, RS-485, Profibus, and EtherNet/IP.

  7. Supervise the installation, termination, testing, and commissioning of field instruments, control panels, junction boxes, and instrumentation cabling.

  8. Perform instrument calibration, loop checking, functional testing, and control-loop tuning to verify system performance and accuracy.

  9. Commission automation and control systems, ensuring proper operation of process interlocks, alarms, permissives, and emergency/safety shutdown systems.

  10. Diagnose and resolve instrumentation, control-system, analyzer, and process-control failures to minimize plant downtime.

  11. Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for critical instrumentation and control equipment.

  12. Manage critical instrumentation spare-parts inventory and ensure timely availability of essential components for maintenance and plant operations.

  13. Ensure compliance with hazardous-area requirements, including ATEX Directive and IECEx standards, for instrumentation and electrical installations.

  14. Verify proper implementation of earthing, intrinsic safety barriers, flameproof equipment, and hazardous-area installation practices.

  15. Support HAZOP studies, safety audits, plant shutdowns, turnaround activities, and commissioning projects.

  16. Maintain and update as-built drawings, instrumentation documentation, control-system records, and technical databases.

  17. Prepare technical reports, troubleshooting reports, modification proposals, test records, and commissioning documentation.

  18. Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, operations, and project teams to resolve multidisciplinary engineering and plant-operation issues.

  19. Apply strong knowledge of process instrumentation, industrial automation, PLC programming, SCADA configuration, control loops, and process analyzers.
