Objective

The Planning Engineer is responsible for end-to-end project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and performance reporting for waste management infrastructure projects, including landfills, TSDFs, MSW facilities, and Waste-to-Energy plants. The role ensures time, cost, and scope control across multiple small, low-cost, short-duration CAPEX projects, enabling informed management decisions.

Skills Required

Project planning and scheduling using Primavera P6/MS Project, progress and cost tracking, multi-project coordination, and MIS reporting for infrastructure/EPC projects.

B.E./B. Tech in Civil / Mechanical Engineering

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Scheduling
  • Develop baseline project schedules (Level 3) covering design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Prepare activity-wise plans aligned with BOQs, drawings, and site execution methodology.
  • Define the critical path, milestones, and key deliverables.
  • Update schedules periodically and maintain schedule integrity.Progress Monitoring & Control
  • Collect and validate daily/weekly site progress data (physical and percentage progress).
  • Monitor planned vs. actual progress and identified delays.
  • Analyse schedule slippages, float consumption, and critical activities.
  • Propose catch-up and recovery plans in coordination with site and design teams.Cost & CAPEX Tracking (Planning Interface)
  • Link schedule activities with CAPEX line items / BOQs.
  • Track budget vs. actuals at activity and package level.
  • Support cost loading, cash flow forecasting, and billing milestones.
  • Assist in impact analysis for scope changes and variation orders.Design, Procurement & Execution Interface
  • Coordinate with in-house design teams to align design deliverables with execution timelines.
  • Integrate procurement activities (PR, PO, manufacturing, delivery) into project schedules.
  • Track vendor mobilisation, manufacturing progress, and site readiness.
  • Highlight risks related to vendor delays, late drawings, or interface gaps.Reporting & MIS
  • Prepare weekly and monthly project MIS reports for management.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards using Excel, Google Sheets, or Looker Studio.
  • Ensure consistency of schedule data, progress photos, and site inputs (including app-based reporting).
  • Support management reviews with trend analysis and forecast-to-complete reports.Risk, Change & Performance Management
  • Maintain risk registers related to schedule, manpower, vendor performance, and local issues.
  • Perform time impact analysis (TIA) for scope changes and delays.
  • Support baseline revisions and change control documentation.
  • Track key planning KPIs across projects.Digital Tools & Process Improvement
  • Use and administer Primavera P6 / MS Project in multi-project environments.
  • Maintain planning data in Excel / Google Sheets with structured logic.
  • Support integration with AppSheet, Looker Studio, and internal dashboards.
  • Assist in standardising planning templates, WBS structures, and reporting formats.Key Deliverables

  • Primavera P6 / MS Project
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets (formulas, pivot tables, dashboards)
  • Basic understanding of EVM concepts
  • Knowledge of BOQs, drawings, and construction sequencing
  • Reporting tools (Looker Studio / Power BI)
  • 6–10 years of experience as a Planning Engineer / Project Controls Engineer
  • Exposure to infrastructure, waste management, EPC, or industrial projects
  • Experience handling multiple concurrent small projects is essential
